Judgment of Dayu.

Chapter 2: "Floods and Mountains, Father and Son in the Martial Arts World". [4]

Summary

Dayu's father, Gun, managed flood control by blocking rivers, earning praise from Emperor Shun. However, Dayu disagreed, advocating for dredging and widening riverbeds to handle floods better. Gun dismissed Dayu's ideas, believing his method was validated by the emperor's support. After Gun's execution due to failed flood control, Dayu was appointed by the emperor, who favored his approach. Mourning his father's death, Dayu felt the execution was unjust and recognized the emperor's shared responsibility. To gain the emperor's trust, Dayu aligned with him, attributed successes to the emperor, and married his daughter, elevating his status. As a result, Dayu became a strong candidate for succession, favored by Emperor Shun over his son, Shang Jun.
