Chapter 197: Aftermath. [196]

Summary

In the seventeenth year of Hong De, Zhao Hong Run led a massive army of seventy thousand troops and over two hundred thousand Chu civilians to Zhaoling. Acting magistrate Zhao Zhun set up porridge stations for the civilians but was concerned about settling them in Zhaoling due to animosity from Wei citizens. Zhao Hong Run reassured him, emphasizing the need to avoid conflict. He decided to station ten thousand Yanling soldiers in Zhaoling for security and ordered a monument for Wei soldiers who died in battle. After brief discussions, Zhao Hong Run continued eastward to Shangshui County, which had also been affected by the Chu army, leaving Zhaoling's management to Zhao Zhun.
