Summary

The chapter describes a conversation between Yang Xi and her brother Yang Huai Yu. Yang Huai Yu had told a man about Yang Xi's feelings, but the timing was poor as both families were already arranging marriages. Yang Xi is upset that her brother revealed this information at an inopportune time. Later, Yang Zong Ying, the patriarch, decides to go speak with Wang Da Ren, the other family, to try to resolve the situation. When they arrive, they are initially denied access, but Wang Ning An, the county magistrate, is then allowed in, suggesting he has more influence.
