Summary

The narrative follows Trapa, an orphan marked by misfortune due to his mother's death at his birth and his father's conscription. Raised by a despised grandfather, Trapa faces isolation and ultimately loses him too. Left to fend for himself, he resorts to petty theft. His encounter with Yin Yang reveals Trapa's sharp mind and courage, distinguishing him from others of his kind. They journey to Helton City, where Yin Yang seeks information about the territory. Despite the tavern's chaotic atmosphere, Yin Yang remains composed, listening to conversations to gather insights about the suzerain's city, but finds no useful information.
