Summary

An old man in a black robe arrives to collect a child who died before birth. He reassures the narrator that the child can reincarnate after settling karmic debt. Despite the elder's warnings not to follow, the narrator feels compelled to pursue them. After a poignant moment, the elder disappears with the child, leaving the narrator heartbroken. Returning home, he reflects on the nature of human connections and fate, as his mentor Qi Ye shares a story about "Wandering Impermanence," a living ghost messenger who collects souls. Qi Ye explains that these ghost messengers exist to aid in soul collection and cannot reveal underworld secrets without consequences.
