Chapter 176: Nobunaga's Monster Chess Game. [175]

Summary

Oda Nobunaga's close associates express concern over his confidence and recent supernatural threats in Kyoto, including heart-devouring monsters. Despite Nobunaga's past victories and newfound power from the third eye, there is unease about his vulnerability against these creatures. As Nobunaga heads to Honno-ji to play chess with the abbot, his companions, Ming Zhi Guang Xiu and Dan Yu Chang Xiu, sense danger and rush to find him. Meanwhile, a group of soldiers, led by a commander and Ban Yuan Xin Fang, prepares to ambush Nobunaga at Honno-ji, feeling uneasy about their alliance with a mysterious monster. As Nobunaga arrives, the soldiers surround the temple, but fear prevents them from attacking. The monster, having already killed some of the soldiers, assures them that sacrifices are necessary to defeat Nobunaga, further escalating the tension and distrust among the allies.
