Summary

In a village, a fortune-teller, Zhang Wan Nian, warns against predicting fate, especially regarding life and death, claiming it disrupts karma. Despite his warnings, a stubborn villager chooses to alert others about potential drownings. Chaos ensues when several villagers fall into a river, leading to a dramatic rescue where the protagonist's grandfather saves a child but struggles himself. Zhang Wan Nian jumps in to help, and despite saving some, one child remains missing. Ultimately, through collective shouting, the seemingly dead child revives, but the lost child remains unaccounted for, leaving a haunting sense of tragedy.
