Chapter 171: Medicine Man. [363]
Summary
In Chapter 171 of "The Herbalist," A Jiao receives a shipment of twelve ginseng roots, which were so valuable that they resulted in the death of a guard and exhaustion of three horses during transport. Yun Lang, intrigued by the ginseng's rarity and potency, decides to test its effects himself, claiming he needs a boost after marriage. A Jiao gives him the smallest root, which he takes home to his wife, Song Qiao. Despite her initial skepticism, Song Qiao, a healer, becomes interested in the ginseng's medicinal properties. She tries a root herself, finding the taste unpleasant but acknowledging its potential benefits. Yun Lang decides to make a ginseng chicken stew, believing it to be a luxurious and nourishing dish. The stew proves to be potent, causing Song Qiao to feel overheated. Yun Lang later shares the stew with friends Huo Qubing, Cao Xiang, and Li Gan, who are impressed by its effects. Cao Xiang and Li Gan consider turning ginseng into a business venture. Yun Lang is more interested in using it to save lives, especially on the battlefield. The chapter ends with Song Qiao suggesting they stockpile more ginseng for its life-saving properties.Full content
