Chapter 170: "Slaying Enemies a Thousand Miles Away, The Legend of Hero Bai Wa". [172]

Summary

The Guandou army, initially confident, faced harassment from inexperienced enemies, leading to a halt in their advance. The Tu Shan Shi and Xia Hou Shi tribes gained confidence and began inflicting casualties on the Guandou forces, inspired by a Xia Hou Shi cavalryman who showcased bravery in battle. Meanwhile, the Guandou rear guard struggled against the Zhen Shi and Huai Shan tribes, who became more effective under the leadership of Bai Wa. The Guandou elder, initially dismissive of the enemy's harassment, grew anxious as losses mounted and the rear guard became entangled. To avoid being cut off from supplies and facing the enemy's main force, he decided to slow the main army's march and send reinforcements to assist the rear guard. As the Guandou forces engaged in a decisive battle, the imperial army gained time to prepare for their own strategies.
