Chapter 168: "Wang Ji's Decisive Battle: Defending the Land Against Enemies, Turning the Tide". [170]
Summary
Dayu's goal is to stall the enemy and cut them off from supplies. However, he needs troops to block their advance, but the imperial army is engaged in battle outside, leaving only Xia Hou's 10,000 soldiers to guard the vital Wang Ji territory. Dayu informs the elder statesmen of the enemy's attack and advises them to prepare in advance. The elder statesmen decide to hold their ground and defend their homeland to the death. Dayu orders all available troops to the front lines to resist the enemy's advance and reorganizes the Wang Ji officials into combat units. Xia Qi commands the Xia officials to form a battle line to defend Jun Tai and protect the elder statesmen, Emperor Yu, and Yi Di. He also appoints a Huai Mountain martial arts expert as the deputy commander of the Xia officials and Tie Wa as the chief instructor of the training camp. Xia Qi summons the garrisons of Yu Zhou and Ji Zhou to march towards Wang Ji and requests the martial arts expert from Liang Zhou to lead a rapid force of 100,000 to return to Wang Ji. The martial arts expert from Xia Hou sets off with his three battalions, and Xia Qi reports to Dayu that as long as Wang Ji can hold out for over 20 days, the Liang Zhou troops will arrive, and the danger to Wang Ji will be averted. Dayu instructs Xia Qi to announce to the military and civilians of Wang Ji that the Liang Zhou reinforcements are en route and will arrive in 10 days to engage the enemy.Full content
