Chapter 166: "The White Child Against the Heavens, Tears and Joy Beneath Mount Zhongnan". [168]

Summary

Bai Wa, a newly recruited guard, seeks out his master, Cai Yao Xian Weng, after settling into an empty home with his wife and child. He learns that Cai Yao is in the Zhongnan Mountains, where he and his wife are thriving. After a month of travel, Bai Wa reunites with his master and mistress, feeling guilt for previously rejecting their advice. They agree to return home together, leaving behind their old life. Upon returning, they live harmoniously, gathering herbs and treating villagers, unaware of the turmoil in Wang Ji, where an assassination attempt leads to mass arrests. Bai Wa's wife, worried for her family, is dissuaded from returning due to the dangers involved. Bai Wa understands the implications of their situation, as his wife is related to a wanted criminal. They mourn the loss of her family but eventually find peace, learning to respect the laws of the land and looking forward to a hopeful future.
