Chapter 163: The Mysterious Invitation. [170]
Summary
In the imperial court of the Tang dynasty, Emperor Li Shi Min, also known as Qin Wang, had many children with different women, including his maid, who gave birth to a daughter named Dong Yang. Despite her royal blood, Dong Yang grew up in a cold and quiet palace, marginalized by the other members of the royal family. One day, Emperor Li Shi Min suddenly sent a large East pearl to Dong Yang, which sparked interest and speculation among the other members of the royal family. The Crown Prince, Li Cheng Qian, and the Prince of Wei, Li Tai, who were both favored sons of the emperor, began to show interest in Dong Yang, sending her gifts and invitations to banquets. Meanwhile, a young man named Li Su, a viscount and the County Son of Jingyang, received invitations from the Crown Prince and the Prince of Wei, as well as from the Long Sun family, to attend banquets. Li Su was perplexed by these sudden invitations and felt that something was amiss in the palace. As Li Su navigated the complex web of relationships and alliances within the imperial court, he began to realize that he needed to take action to protect himself and his family from being manipulated by the nobles.Full content
