Summary

In a dark dream state, the narrator follows the incantations of Zhao Xiao Min, leading to a soul separation. Observing her from a spectral form, he realizes she cannot see him. They venture into a transformed well, now a passageway to the underworld, where they encounter Liu, a widow. Together, they navigate an endless tunnel filled with human bones and eerie green flames, seeking the fierce deity, Zhong Kui. They face a supernatural wall, trapping them in a maze, witnessing tortured souls. Liu identifies her husband, Zhao Kang, among the spirits, but he remains oblivious to her presence. The atmosphere is tense, suggesting impending danger.
