Chapter 16: The Skeleton of the Human Figurine. [15]

Summary

Yun Lang and Dazai were at the mountain top, where Yun Lang began digging for wild ginseng. Dazai sat overlooking the First Emperor's tomb, showing little interest in the present. Yun Lang felt Dazai was already dead, trapped by the First Emperor. To revive him, Yun Lang decided to cook his favorite dish, dumplings filled with garlic chives and pork. They dug for wild chives and found other rare delicacies like dandelions and wild celery. They also found spring bamboo shoots and a wild boar, which they used to make a delicious meal. Dazai was unusually interested in the cooking process and enjoyed the meal, eating three plates of dumplings. The meal brought him back to life, and he appreciated the simple joys of living. Yun Lang believed that the evolution of culinary arts was the most useful part of China's history, catering to everyone's tastes. He could face historical tragedies calmly, as long as they didn't involve ordinary people. As spring arrived in Guanzhong, Yun Lang and Dazai went down the mountain, and Yun Lang dressed in a light spring shirt for the Qingming Festival, which was not originally celebrated by the old Qin people.
