Summary

After a night of fermentation, the dough became soft and pliable. The addition of alkaline dough made it even softer, prompting laughter among the men as they prepared to make steamed buns. Using a new stove, they efficiently boiled water and steamed the buns, which turned out larger and fluffier than usual. The buns, made with a mix of millet flour and red date paste, were deliciously sweet and non-sour, surprising everyone with their taste. Zhang Chao suggested selling the buns in town to generate income, and his companions agreed that their quality would attract buyers.
