Summary
Xi Men Qing receives a box from Zheng Chun, containing a handkerchief and sunflower seeds from Sister Yue. The Comte snatches the seeds, leading to playful banter between him and Xi Men Qing. After a round of drinks, they discuss a monetary transaction of one thousand taels and an ensuing legal trouble involving Huang Si's father-in-law, Sun Qing. Huang Si pleads for Xi Men Qing's assistance to intervene with local authorities regarding a wrongful accusation against his father-in-law. Despite initial reluctance, Xi Men Qing agrees to write a letter, while the Comte advises him to accept a monetary gift from Huang Si.
