Summary

The chapter describes a battle between the Liao and Song armies along the Yellow River. The Liao soldiers attempted to cross the river but were met with devastating force from the Wang Jia Jun, who slaughtered many of them. Ye Lu Zhong Yuan, a Liao commander, watched in horror as the river ice cracked and swallowed his troops. Ultimately, the Liao were forced to retreat. Wang Ning An, a Song commander, had secretly prepared gunpowder weapons that gave the Song forces a decisive advantage. However, his actions were criticized by senior officials who feared retaliation from the Liao.
