Chapter 153: "Southeast Winds and Clouds: The Fantastic Struggle of Nobility and Integration". [152]
Summary
The newly appointed emperor of Ursus cultivated power by supporting reformist nobles in the southeast, leading to the erosion of old noble factions. The new nobles, relying on commerce, maintained order and avoided abusing common people, unlike their counterparts in the southwest. However, the arrival of the Unified Integration Movement during the civil war did not significantly change the lives of locals, who felt resentment towards the movement. The movement faced challenges in gaining support, as the eastern front was backed by nobles but resented by the populace, while the western front had popular support but lacked combat power. Internationally, the civil war in Ursus drew attention, especially from neighboring countries eager to witness the turmoil. While countries observed Kazdel's internal strife without direct involvement, they were keen to intervene in Ursus. The Dawn King’s prohibition against harming ordinary people limited the effectiveness of traditional tactics against Ursus. However, Kazimir sought to reclaim lost territories, preparing for action as the civil war unfolded in Ursus.Full content
