Summary

Wen Chao Sheng, after a restless night, visits a ruined temple on a significant day, anticipating a confrontation with Liu Kintoki, the magistrate. However, A Shui's insights suggest Kintoki might comply with their plans. As they discuss recent events, they discover weapons in the temple, hinting at danger. Upon reaching the county town, they find it eerily deserted and eventually stumble upon a crowd gathered around the county office. To Wen Chao Sheng's shock, Liu Kintoki is found hanged at the entrance, leaving him in disbelief and laughter, while onlookers speculate about his mental state.
