Chapter 149: Accumulating Connections. [155]

Summary

Li Su was skeptical of the concept of human rights in the Great Tang Dynasty, where Emperor Li Shi Min held absolute power. Li Su's encounter with Li Ke, who escaped unscathed despite Emperor Li Shi Min's displeasure, led to Li Ke expressing gratitude towards Li Su. However, Li Su unexpectedly asked for repayment in monetary terms, which caught Li Ke off guard. Li Su also reflected on his relationships with others, particularly Xu Jingzong, whom he considered bad company. He realized that building connections with people was crucial, much like making deposits into a bank account. The next day, Li Su met with Xu Jingzong, who presented him with a specially made Tian Yi, half-filled with gunpowder. Li Su then invited Yang Yan to the training ground, where he intended to settle their dispute once and for all. Yang Yan was warned to cooperate with Li Su, or face the consequences. Li Su revealed that he had discovered Yang Yan's secret project, which could be used to overthrow the emperor, and threatened to expose him if he didn't comply. A tense confrontation ensued, culminating in a massive explosion that left Yang Yan stunned.
