Summary

After five exhausting days of brick-making, Xiao Fan and his companions produced over a thousand bricks, yet they realized they had barely completed one-fifth of the amount needed for their house. They also faced a depletion of food supplies, as hunting and gathering were left to the two ladies. Xiao Fan created a quicklime container from bricks, which proved effective. After a day of rest by the seaside, they checked traps for wild boars, but most were destroyed. Xiao Fan reinforced the traps and concealed human activity, hoping to catch a wild boar. He also gathered kelp and abalone to replenish their food supply.
