Chapter 145: Climbing the Mountain to Chop Wood [144]
Summary
Yang Yu shares her plans to collect cabbage with Zhao Zhen Tao and Zhu Yuan, who offer to help. They learn that the school let students out early due to autumn distractions, and they decide to gather firewood together for the winter. Upon reaching the mountain, they encounter many villagers focused on food storage. Zhu Yuan and Yang Yu initially sit out while the men gather firewood but soon join in foraging wild vegetables. They meet Aunt Jin Hua, who expresses gratitude for Zhu Yuan's past help with her son, Tie Zhu. Despite Aunt Jin Hua's insistence to stay and forage, Zhu Yuan and Yang Yu leave to pick mushrooms. They are confronted by Hu Bin, who tries to help but makes them uncomfortable. The two girls cleverly redirect him and escape, planning to avoid him in the future.Full content
