Chapter 14: The Great King Sent Me to Patrol the Mountain. [13]
Summary
Yun Lang and Dazai crossed mountain peaks, witnessing the importance of good gear. Yun Lang shed his gear, leaving him with a crossbow, dagger, and sword. They followed footprints, which didn't belong to them, and found a low pine forest. Dazai suspected an ambush and they circled around, finding a group of men, possibly bandits, hunting rabbits and pheasants. A scream echoed, and a knight on a warhorse appeared, killing one of the men. The knight was joined by the Feathered Forest Guard, who reprimanded him for taking too long to kill. The guard and knight left, and four muscular men emerged from the forest, taking the corpse's head and rabbit. Yun Lang and Dazai stayed hidden, watching the scene unfold. They later sat in the grass, eating lunch, and a tiger arrived, its paws stained with blood. Yun Lang realized Dazai's purpose was to train him in a harsh environment.Full content
