Chapter 135: The City of Jiuli: The Fog of Geese and Ducks and the Night Raid of Winds and Clouds. [137]
Summary
The chapter describes the fortified castle of the Jiuli clan, which is well-defended against the imperial army's attempts to breach it. The Great Lord of the Jiuli clan takes measures to prevent enemy infiltration, including dismantling bridges and conducting rigorous inspections at the gates. Despite the imperial army's numerical superiority, their attempts to lure the Jiuli defenders out for battle fail, leading to a stalemate. The Tai Fu of the imperial court devises a plan to use stealth and fire to attack the castle, targeting the suspension bridges for access. After several failed assaults, the imperial army shifts tactics by capturing the geese and ducks in the moat to create an opportunity for a nighttime ambush. As the Jiuli defenders grow complacent, the imperial soldiers prepare for a coordinated attack on the suspension bridges, aiming to secure them for a subsequent assault on the castle gates.Full content
