Chapter 13: Refined Salt and Engagement. [14]
Summary
Zhang Bai Ren, a Taoist with limited historical knowledge, receives supplies from the army, surprising his family and neighbors. As they open the package, they discover valuable items like refined salt, Bai Tang, and a long sword, leading to a joyous yet somber reaction from Zhang Mu. Uncle Zhang is hesitant to accept the gifts, but Zhang Mu suggests they consider it a betrothal gift for her daughter, Xiao Cao. Zhang Bai Ren is taken aback by this proposal. Later, Zhang Mu questions him about the military's generosity, and he fabricates a story about being chosen as a disciple by General Yu Ju Luo, which eases her concerns. She advises him to balance martial arts with studies, hoping he will excel in both.Full content
