Summary

After breakfast, Muramasa Ke An introduced four attendants to Zhang Chao, two of whom were young lads from his village, Bai Zhi and Zhi Yi, assigned to assist Zhang Chao's father, a ninth-rank military officer. The other two were mansion guards. The attendants served for two months, performing various duties. Zhang Chao envied the privileges of officials in the Tang dynasty, noting that higher ranks had more attendants. He requested his father to buy materials for refining alkali and spices, indicating a plan for future cooking. Ke Wu and Ke Shan, experienced in masonry, joined as guards, showcasing their skills learned from their father, the village head.
