Summary

Li Yan Qing develops a fondness for Yang Da Guan Jia, who returns ten guan of money and offers additional support for Li Yan Qing's father. Yang Da Guan Jia reveals that his master plans to supplement Li Yan Qing's father with fifty guan, given his low wages as a horse caretaker. Li Yan Qing seizes the opportunity to improve his father's living conditions by proposing a complete reconstruction of their dilapidated house. Yang Da Guan Jia agrees to this plan after some hesitation. After Yang Da Guan Jia leaves, Aunt Hu praises Li Yan Qing for his cleverness and generosity, and she and her daughter-in-law decide to make him new clothes for school. The next day, Li Yan Qing, dressed in the new robe and with provisions from Aunt Hu, heads to Lu Shan Town, where the bustling market and the school, Lu Shan School, await him.
