Chapter 13: After Ancestors Eat, I Will Eat. [12]

Summary

Li Yu, wanting to spare Pan Shi from grief, lies about being pardoned by the emperor instead of revealing his imprisonment. He believes it's better for her to think he died, allowing her to heal. Upon reuniting, Pan Shi joyfully removes his spirit tablet from the tribute table, believing her son has returned. She prepares a meal, insisting he eat the offerings meant for ancestors, claiming they’ve already enjoyed it. Li Yu, feeling guilty, reassures her of his future success. Their bond strengthens as they share a meal, and Li Yu's mother expresses gratitude for his safe return, hoping for his prosperous future.
