Summary

This chapter follows the story of Yan Jidao, the seventh son of Yan Shu. Yan Jidao is described as a strikingly handsome young man who recently returned from an adventure in Jiangnan, where he composed many poems and gained the admiration of local scholars. Upon returning, he finds that his father Yan Shu has taken up teaching at the Six Arts Academy, and Yan Jidao expresses his desire to study there as well. . The chapter then shifts to the story of Han Zong Wu, who has been overseeing the construction of houses for the common folk. As the day for the people to take ownership approaches, tensions rise as everyone wants the best houses. However, Han Zong Wu cleverly resolves the conflict by letting the supervisors pick the houses in the end.
