Summary

Hu Yan Dang Tu observes the Xiongnu soldiers, noting their heavy and mismatched bronze armor, which he finds uncoordinated and inferior compared to the Han dynasty's military equipment. Despite their shortcomings, he acknowledges this as progress for the Xiongnu. Meanwhile, anxiety spreads among the Xiongnu nobles, haunted by past defeats against the Han, particularly the War of He Yin. They fear the Han's superior cavalry and the possibility of facing another disastrous loss. The Chieftain reflects on the decline of morale among his nobles, blaming their failures rather than his leadership. He longs for the past glory of the Xiongnu Empire under the old Chieftain.
