Summary

On a summer night in Yuyang, Zhang Da Hai and his thirty soldiers stealthily approached a poorly guarded Xiongnu camp, noting its lack of defenses against a night raid. The Xiongnu, composed of captured slaves, were unaware of the impending danger. Zhang Da Hai ignited a massive pile of fodder with highly flammable whale oil, causing chaos as flames spread and horses panicked. As the Xiongnu scrambled to extinguish the fire, Han cavalry, alerted by the commotion, prepared to attack. Amidst the confusion, Zhang Da Hai incited fear by proclaiming the arrival of the Han "divine cavalry," leading to further disarray among the Xiongnu forces.
