Chapter 1266 A Battle to Decide the Southwest (Part 3) [Seeking Monthly Tickets]. [1268]
Summary
The Shimizu Hermitage, originally a deserted temple, was renovated by Old Lady Cui to provide refuge for homeless women and children. Local rascals viewed the nuns as loose women, leading to trouble that Old Lady Cui fiercely dealt with, establishing a reputation for the hermitage as a safe haven. Cui Zhi, her son-in-law, visits the hermitage amidst rising tensions due to a plague affecting the new residents. He learns from a steward that the nun in charge, Old Lady Cui, has died after defending the temple from bandits who sought to loot it. The bandit leader, unable to kill her, offered her a choice to save others, but she refused. Cui Hui, Old Lady Cui's daughter, mourns her mother and learns of the deep regrets her mother held about her past as a bandit. Despite the casualties, the nun managed to save many lives, and Cui Hui reassures her mother that their family will atone for past sins through future generations. Cui Zhi expresses his concern for Cui Hui's safety over family obligations, showing a shift in priorities as they navigate their grief and the chaos around them.Full content
