Summary
Two figures spontaneously combust, leaving behind ashes as eerie whispers and laughter fill the air. The narrator, exhausted and wounded, senses a ghostly presence following them home. After a tense encounter with scratching at the door, a scream signals the ghost's retreat. Uncle Li arrives, but his demeanor shifts when asked about the narrator's grandfather. Later, a terrifying ghostly face appears at the window, but vanishes when checked. The narrator, shaken, wards off spirits with talismans and dreams of a girl in white who jumps to her death. The next morning, Uncle Li urgently informs the narrator of a girl who has hanged herself in the kitchen, leaving them unsettled.Full content
