Chapter 1154: World War (12). [1158]
Summary
Li Yuanji's suspicion order in Chang'an led to the capture of over a thousand people, including beggars who spread rumors. Lv Ping, head of the Chang'an Intelligence Agency, ordered members to retreat to the outskirts for safety. Disguised as a Qian Niu Guard, Lv Ping visited a small tavern for a meeting with military advisor Gao Jin and Luo Yu Min. They discussed a major incident where thirteen Guanzhong noble heads were detained by Li Yuanji while discussing donations to the Tang army. Li Yuanji aimed to force these nobles to surrender their private soldiers, posing a significant threat to the Tang dynasty. Despite the risks of unrest, Li Yuanji prioritized eliminating this military threat. Lv Ping decided to report the situation to Zhongdu, while they discussed the cunning military advisor Cui Wenxiang, who influenced Li Yuanji's actions. After sending carrier pigeons with intelligence to Zhongdu, Fang Xuan Ling informed Zhang Xuan about the situation, leading to a discussion on the implications of Li Yuanji's actions regarding the Guanzhong nobles. Zhang Xuan considered the nobles a long-term threat and saw potential benefits in Li Yuanji's approach.Full content
