Summary

Meng Yan and his companions discover the life story of General Zhang, a legendary figure who began martial arts training at age four and defended the Great Xia for years despite personal losses. After numerous military victories, he died at forty-nine without enjoying wealth or glory. Upon entering Zhang's tomb, Meng Yan encounters the general's spirit, who reveals that four wandering souls do not deserve death. Meng Yan negotiates for additional items in exchange for allowing the souls to leave peacefully. General Zhang agrees, and the souls depart, leaving Meng Yan to claim his promised rewards.
