Chapter 115: Battle in Songzhou (Below). [119]

Summary

The Tang army, led by Niu Jin Da, launched an attack on the city of Songzhou, but the Tubo Empire countered with a three-pronged attack, putting the Tang army on the defensive. Despite being outnumbered, the Tang army's cavalry camp managed to hold its ground, but the situation was dire. Niu Jin Da ordered the deployment of the crossbow camp and the Mokou squad to counter the Tubo Empire's cavalry. The Mokou squad's array formation proved formidable, causing the Tubo Empire's cavalry to retreat. However, the Tang army's second city attack failed, and hundreds of soldiers were killed. The general ordered a retreat, and Li Su found Wang Zhuang, who was severely injured, and tended to his wounds. The second failure put pressure on the defenders, and the Tang army suffered heavy losses.
