Summary

Lian Ji and Tong Ming discuss the history of the Dark Source Palace, originally a tree called the Dark Wood, which was destroyed during a upheaval in the Dark Realm. Mo Wuji discovers a fragment of the Dark Wood and seeks advice on keeping it alive. Tong Ming explains that reviving it requires two rare items: the Dark Attribute Source Pearl and Resonance Soil. Mo Wuji realizes he possesses the Dark Attribute Source Pearl but is discouraged by the difficulty of obtaining Resonance Soil. Huan Ti reveals that the Dark Wood allows cultivation of both light and dark attributes, a secret that could endanger Mo Wuji if known. Mo Wuji decides to seek Resonance Soil and prepares to leave the Dark Source Palace, assuring Tong Ming of his safety. After Mo Wuji departs, Tong Ming expresses doubt about his ability to remain undetected, while Huan Ti acknowledges the risks involved. Mo Wuji, now in a desolate wilderness, begins to practice his cultivation, merging light and dark rules.
