Summary
Xie Ying Deng is awakened by soldiers after a deep sleep induced by wine. He learns that a scholar named Ling Jing, claiming to be his relative from Zhongdu, is waiting to see him. Ling Jing informs Xie that the Emperor is considering him for a military role and presents a letter from the Emperor promising him a position as Tiger Ben General. Xie is initially hesitant due to concerns for his family's safety in Taiyuan but is reassured by Ling Jing that Pei Ji will not harm them. Encouraged, Xie agrees to serve the Emperor. Later, Xie learns that Jin Jiong, the county's defense officer, is leaving Huo Yi County. After Jin's departure, Xie gathers his officers and declares his allegiance to the Da Zhou Empire, offering them a choice to follow him or leave without penalty. Most officers choose to pledge loyalty, but a few decide to leave, unaware of the danger that awaits them. As the day ends, the Zhou army enters Huo Yi County, ready to advance.Full content
