Summary

In a snowy mountain setting, a white-furred brown bear, caught in old vines, is discovered by Li Yun and his companions. Despite its fierce appearance, the bear calms when Shi Li, a young boy with a unique ability to tame animals, gently pets it. Shi Li argues against harming the bear, believing it has a spirit and serves as a guardian of the mountain. The group decides to spare the bear, valuing its life over a meal. Meanwhile, a gathering of lamas at the village entrance creates a sense of awe among villagers. Bu Er Han, the village chief, seeks to negotiate with the lamas, who are there to welcome Shi Li, the reincarnated Pope of their sect.
