Summary

The story follows Xiao Fan as he returns home, excited about their successful fish trap. They plan to salt and dry the fish due to an increasing salt supply. While producing sea salt from seawater, Xiao Fan faces the daunting task of slaughtering a wild rabbit for the first time. Despite feeling uncomfortable, he prepares with limited tools, recalling methods he observed before. After several attempts, he successfully kills the rabbit and begins the process of skinning it, aiming to preserve the fur. The scene is bloody and challenging, but Xiao Fan perseveres for survival.
