Chapter 113: Battle for Songzhou (Part 1). [117]
Summary
The Tibetan Empire's 200,000-strong army has laid siege to Songzhou, vastly outnumbering the 50,000 Tang soldiers. Despite the overwhelming odds, Song Zan Gan Bu aims to assert the might of the Tang Empire and determine the rightful ruler through war. The Tang army faces numerous challenges, including providing for the tens of thousands of refugees who have escaped from Songzhou. A surprise attack by Tibetan soldiers disguised as refugees was quashed, but the incident cast a dark shadow over the Tang army's morale. The generals, including Hou Junji, Liu Lan, and Niu Jin Da, are determined to retake Songzhou, but their prospects are grim. Niu Jin Da orders the assembly of officers, and the Tang army launches a full-scale assault on the city. Li Su, a skilled warrior, is concerned about the battle plan and suggests surrounding the city to wait for reinforcements. However, Niu Jin Da believes that waiting for reinforcements would take too long and orders the attack to proceed. The two armies face off, and the atmosphere is tense, with the outcome of the battle far from certain. The Tang army, led by Niu Jin Da, is determined to defend its territory at all costs, while the Tuguhun army is known for its ferocity. The battle is a war of wills, a clash of two great armies, each determined to emerge victorious. The fate of the nation hangs in the balance, and the outcome of the battle will determine the course of history. At exactly one o'clock, the Tang army launches a massive crossbow attack on the city walls, with 3,000 crossbowmen emerging from each of the three sides.Full content
