Chapter 11: The Path of Flying Snow and Dandelions. [10]

Summary

In this chapter, Talula and Orson confront the harsh realities of their world after Orson is severely injured by a group of villagers who attack them. Talula reflects on her purpose of bringing happiness to the infected, but the attack morphs her feelings into rage as she realizes that the villagers are motivated by greed rather than survival. Despite her desire for retribution, Orson taps into his ability, the Suspension skill, to eliminate the threat posed by the villagers at the cost of further weakening himself. As Orson lies gravely injured, he wrestles with the realization that he must survive not just for himself but also to protect Alina, who remains unconscious. In a desperate attempt to cling to life, he channels his pain into a powerful resolve, grasping onto his soul's melody. He transitions between a memory of being in a sterile hospital room with a girl who has been suffering and the idyllic vision of a dandelion field, ultimately reaffirming his will to live. The narrative encapsulates a moment of self-reflection, marking Orson's choice between despair and hope. In the end, he resolves to help Talula, symbolizing his commitment to their journey together despite the harshness of their reality. When he regains consciousness, he finds comfort in Talula's presence, signifying the strength of their bond.
