Chapter 11: Soul Calming Bell. [109]

Summary

An incident involving an ancient copper bell occurs as a group investigates it after noticing a crack that seemingly appeared suddenly. The bell emits an eerie purple mist, prompting discussions about its properties and history. Sun Pang Zi, who possesses some sight abilities, is coaxed to examine the bell's fog, revealing a swirling pattern. Xiao He Shang attempts to penetrate the bell using a knitting needle, which, after several tries, successfully enters. This action releases a rush of air and death energy. As the atmosphere clears, Xiao He Shang explains that the bell, known as the Soul-Settling Bell, was historically linked to the execution of criminals during the height of Buddhism in China, particularly during the Later Zhou Dynasty's destruction of Buddhist temples for their wealth.
