Summary

In a dramatic scene, Fan Zhong Yong, the top scholar, mocks Du Yu, a failed student, for his lack of qualifications and future prospects. Du Yu, however, boldly requests a sacred judgment, suspecting foul play in his examination results. This rare act, which could lead to severe consequences, catches the attention of the stern official Tian Hong Feng. Despite ridicule, Du Yu claims his failure is evidence of cheating. Tian Hong Feng, intrigued by Du Yu's talent, orders an investigation into the exam papers. Niu Da, the county official, panics and reveals that all failed papers were destroyed in a fire, escalating the tension and chaos among the scholars.
