Summary

Fang Xuan Ling and Zhang Xuan discuss the strategy regarding Xiangyang, with Zhang Xuan suggesting that instead of splitting forces, they should besiege the city to lure the Tang army out. Meanwhile, the Tang army, led by Li Lei Shi, faces dire circumstances as they are besieged and run out of food. The Sui army, commanded by Luo Cheng, sets the mountain ablaze to force the Tang soldiers to surrender. Despite initial panic, Li Lei Shi manages to lead a breakout, but many Tang soldiers scatter in fear. Luo Cheng realizes the mistake of not fully encircling the Tang forces and decides to return to camp after capturing some surrendering soldiers. As dawn breaks, many fleeing Tang soldiers surrender to the Sui army, but over a thousand escape, including Li Lei Shi. Zhang Xuan arrives with a large army, ready to confront the situation.
