Chapter 1046: Unexpected Arrival. [1050]

Summary

Jiangxia County and Qichun County are separated by a river. Qu Tutong established a fleet to transport military supplies from the Tang Dynasty to Du Fuwei. Under the cover of night, a fleet of cargo ships delivered weapons, including five thousand battle blades and ten thousand spears, to Du Fuwei, who was cunningly securing arms from both the Tang army and Zheng Shanguo. After occupying Huangmei County, Du Fuwei forcibly conscripted over two thousand young men to bolster his army, despite the ensuing atrocities. With new supplies, Du Fuwei prepared to march toward Qichun County, unaware that an eight-thousand-strong Sui army had already arrived there. Zheng Shanguo, caught off guard by the Sui troops, faced house arrest under orders from General Luo Shi Xin. His fears were confirmed when Qi Wang Zhang Xuan appeared, revealing the Tang Dynasty's strategic miscalculation regarding the situation in Jianghuai.
