Chapter 1008: Becoming a Monk and Not Achieving Success. [1005]

Summary

Tripitaka, after reciting scriptures, faced questions from the monks about their meaning. He disdainfully criticized their comprehension and emphasized the importance of gratitude. Tripitaka expressed his contempt for traditional Buddhist teachings, arguing that being a monk leads to nothing and that true happiness lies in living freely. When soldiers invaded the temple to capture the monks, they pleaded for Tripitaka's help, but he mockingly refused, insisting they complete their temple duties. Eventually, Tripitaka and his companions revealed their identities as monks from the East Tang Dynasty, leading to excitement from a Little Taoist Priest who invited them to meet the State Master.
