Summary

Niu You Dao, under house arrest, grapples with the responsibility of a bronze mirror entrusted to him by Dong Guo Haoran, which he suspects may hold secrets. Despite his efforts to uncover its mysteries, he finds nothing. Engaging in physical exercises and practicing calligraphy, he tries to make the most of his confinement. When Chen Gui Shuo brings a new reclining chair, Song Yan Qing visits, revealing his infatuation with poetry to impress Tang Yi. Niu You Dao learns of Song Yan Qing's past and his attempts to win her favor through poetry, realizing the challenges of his own situation as he seeks to advance in the Shangqing Sect.
