Summary

Ling Fu is silent and gloomy as Chu Tian enthusiastically promotes his ten golden-scaled carps, each valued at fifteen hundred taels of gold. Despite Ling Fu's objections about the price, Chu Tian insists on the quality and legality of the sale. Xun Yu, a nobleman, shows interest and leaves, indicating the Ling family must purchase the carps to maintain their reputation. Ling Fu ultimately agrees to the purchase, promising the gold will be delivered by dusk. As word spreads, a crowd gathers outside Qingliu Xiaozhu, excited by the sight of the gold-laden carts.
