Summary

On a summer night in 1919, Mr. Shen Lian Cheng, a local tycoon, is troubled by the absence of a guide he hired for British engineers. At a village theater, he unknowingly sits among deceased relatives, recognizing them only when a thunderous sound jolts him. They confront him about neglecting ancestral worship, expressing grievances about offerings. Shen Lian Cheng realizes his family's wrongs and promises to amend them. However, his deceased uncle warns him of an impending disaster threatening the Shen lineage and urges him to escape towards Fengtian. Suddenly, he wakes up, drenched in sweat, as his wife shares her own nightmare of ghosts.
